The City of Phoenix is seeking a Chief Presiding Judge to lead its Municipal Court and oversee judicial and administrative operations. The executive-level role includes supervising judges and staff, presiding over hearings and trials, managing court schedules and budgets, and ensuring compliance with state laws and city ordinances. Funding Available for Housing and Homelessness Services Applications
The Sonoma County Community Development Commission is accepting applications for its 2026–2027 funding cycle, offering about $12.6 million for affordable housing, rental assistance, emergency shelters, homelessness prevention, and supportive services. Funding includes federal programs administered through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and local housing funds. Applications must be submitted online by April 3, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., and attendance at a mandatory technical assistance workshop is required.

Emergency shelter opens in Marin due to extreme cold
Marin County Health and Human Services has activated its Severe Weather Emergency Shelter in San Rafael following an extreme cold warning from the National Weather Service. Operated with Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco, the overnight shelter at the Marin Health and Wellness Campus provides heated space for unhoused individuals from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Feb. 21. Families are welcome, but volunteers and donations are not accepted. The activation aims to protect vulnerable populations from life-threatening weather conditions.

SAT Prep Course at Ukiah Library Opens Registration
High school students planning to take the SAT in May or June can sign up for a free two-session prep course at the Mendocino County Library Ukiah Branch. Led by senior William Shi, sessions will cover math review and test-taking strategies for both Math and Reading/Writing. Free Mental Health Course in Spanish Opens Interest List
NAMI Sonoma County is creating an interest list for its free eight-week “Family-to-Family” course in Spanish. The program helps relatives and friends support loved ones with mental health conditions through communication skills, crisis response, and guidance on local services. Rincon Valley Library to Close for Modernization Project
Starting March 16, Rincon Valley Regional Library will close for a major modernization project designed to better serve the community. Improvements include a new makerspace, teen area, redesigned children’s room, updated shelving and seating, and new paint and carpet. The library is expected to reopen in late June. During the closure, loan periods will be extended, the BiblioBus will provide limited services, and the eLibrary and nearby branches will remain available.
Biblioteca Rincon Valley Cerrará por Proyecto de Modernización

CPR Training and Certification for Teens

PG&E Offers Up to $10,000 in STEM Scholarships
PG&E Corporation Foundation is now accepting applications for its STEM Better Together scholarships, awarding up to $350,000 to as many as 60 students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Eligible students may receive $10,000, $5,000, or $2,500. Applications close March 12, 2026, with awards announced in August. Additional employee-funded scholarships totaling more than $300,000 are also available.

Santa Rosa CityBus, Petaluma Transit, and Sonoma County Transit will provide free rides on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, in honor of Transit Equity Day, celebrating Rosa Parks and other civil rights pioneers who fought for equal access to public transportation. Agencies are partnering with the Santa Rosa–Sonoma County NAACP. A commemorative meet-up will take place at 10 a.m. at the Downtown Transit Mall, featuring remarks from NAACP President Kirstyne Lange and Santa Rosa Mayor Mark Stapp.
