Free Literacy Festival for Families
Families are invited to a free, countywide celebration of reading at The Great Literacy Adventure, taking place Saturday, April 11, 2026 (11 a.m.–3 p.m.) at NorCal Public Media, 311 Professional Center Drive, Rohnert Park. The event will feature hands-on literacy activities, storytimes, PBS Kids characters, author signings, and free books while supplies last. Students can develop painting techniques while practicing Spanish and English vocabulary in a guided, step-by-step session led by Napa Valley Painting. The activity requires advance registration and is open to students in grades 7–12. The program will take place at Sonoma County Library locations in Roseland, Northwest Santa Rosa, and Healdsburg, CA.

RSV Cases Rise as Infants Face Highest Risk
Health officials warn that RSV infections and hospitalizations are continuing to rise this season, with babies at the highest risk of severe illness. Experts say it is not too late to get vaccinated, noting that the RSV vaccine is recommended between October and March for infants under 8 months whose mothers were not vaccinated during pregnancy, as well as for high-risk infants and toddlers ages 8 to 19 months.

Napa to Host 2026 MPS Race for a Cure
The National MPS Society will hold the 2026 Napa MPS Race for a Cure on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Kennedy Park, 2295 Streblow Drive, Napa, CA 94558. The annual fundraiser supports research and advocacy for mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) and mucolipidosis (ML), rare genetic diseases with no known cures.
The event includes a 5K run and 1-mile walk, both priced at $35, as well as a picnic-only option for $10. Onsite registration and packet pickup begin at 8:30 a.m. Participants can also enjoy a post-race celebration featuring prize drawings, a photo booth, a caricature artist and a family picnic. Proceeds will fund research and provide direct support to affected families.

Ukiah Library Hosts Art Walk Featuring Charles Montgomery
The Mendocino County Library Ukiah Branch will present Art Walk openings on Friday, March 6, and Friday, April 3, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Ukiah Branch Library, Ukiah, CA. The exhibit showcases acrylic-on-canvas works by local artist Charles Montgomery, known for colorful, stylized portraits inspired by masters such as Van Gogh and Matisse, often infused with humor and musical themes. The March 6 opening features live jazz, while April 3 includes live harp music. The free, all-ages exhibit runs through April 30.
